About the Event

KELLY GOODSIR BIO

Kelly Goodsir is the managing director of KGlearning, a professional learning company that focus' on improving pedagogical practice through strategic educational change in early childhood. Kelly has dedicated her career across both New Zealand and Australian contexts to her own and others development of pedagogy, learning and leadership and believes whole heartedly that through ‘thinking and learning collaboratively’ anything is possible.

You will be drawn to Kelly’s creative inspiration, her ability to make the complex simple and her unwavering advocacy for upholding children, families’ and educator rights. Her strengths are grounded in long-term educational change, designing systems that foster agency, ownership and a strong positive learning culture – this also means disrupting traditional ways of working. Kelly invites you to think deeply about the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of teaching and leading whilst compelling you to entwine wisdom and courage in all that you do. It is no surprise that her company tag line is: ‘empowering organisations to think and learn’.

Kelly is an author to a children’s book published in 2016 called My Family is a Team: a story about mental illness as well as other early childhood resources which can be found on her website www.kglearning.com.au.

This amazing Day with Kelly Goodsir will explore the below two topics:

DOCUMENTATION WITH CHILDREN

Too often we leave children out of the equation when it comes to assessment and too often, we rush to formalise documentation. What if documentation was an everyday practice that supported children's expression of their working ideas, thinking and theories? This session will explore what it means to document children's perspective and make their ideas visible in ways that synthesis and give opportunities for reflection and ongoing inquiry.

COACHING LEADERSHIP

Leaders who walk beside others as they coach and influence not only enhance educator’s individual skills but also build cultures of learning through partnership. We learn best when we are in dialogue with others, questioning and problem solving as a collaboration. This context invites a deeper willingness to rethink, unlearn and relearn. How might we slow down and weave the threads of coaching into our leadership practice so that we gain more depth and breadth in our capacity as a team.
